The Case
A couple entered into a contract with a birth mother to adopt. She claimed the birth father was unknown and that the men who could be the father weren't interested in the child. The child was born drug positive with severe health issues, and the birth mother allowed the child to go home with the adoptive parents.
She later decided she wanted the child back after a biological father came forward. He was abusive and had an extensive criminal history, including allegations of beating the biological mother so badly she was hospitalized.
